Social Media Professional Jason Falls Coming to Detroit

jasonfalls-2x3cI just found out, last night actually, that Jason Falls will be swinging through Detroit next week.

Despite his busy schedule, Jason wants to meet our active community. So, Chris Barger from GM and Social Media Club Detroit have arranged a Tweetup. We will be gathering around 6:30pm at Royal Oak Brewery on Tuesday, July 13th.

This is a great chance to connect with one of the industry’s heavy influencers.

It is also another great opportunity to show outside talent just how strong and active our community is. Showing that Detroit is just a viable digital market when compared to the coasts, is important.

Show your support and stop by to say hello!

If you are not already, follow Jason on Twitter and say hello. You should also be reading his blog, Social Media Explorer, as he shares excellent marketing and social media advice.

You can RSVP for the event here. See you on Tuesday!

  • Royal Oak Brewery
  • 215 East 4th Street
  • Royal Oak, MI
  • 6:30pm – 9:00pm

Join us on Monday, June 21st, at 8:00pm at Garden Court Condominiums for an awesome view of the Detroit (Target) Fireworks. Garden Court Condominiums was generous enough to donate their rooftop penthouse suite to Detroit’s social media community the night of the fireworks. The patio alone fits 120+ people! We will also have complimentary beer, cocktails and wine thanks to Atwater Block Brewery, Valentine Vodka and B. Nektar.

For additional event details and to register to attend, head over to Eventbrite. Tickets are free, but space is limited!

The event hashtag for Twitter and Foursquare check-ins: #gardencourt

This is going to be one of the best tweetups yet! I hope to see many of you there!

#tweetea Needs You (Satellite Hosts)

The time has come for #tweeteaMichigan’s longest-running weekly tweetup – to spread its wings. #tweetea has gone through many different phases and many regulars of the event feel it is time to share its awesomeness across the region. That is where YOU come into the picture.

This is a great opportunity to join the conversation in real life. We have had many people converse with us through the #tweetea hashtag that have never been able to join us. Now here is an opportunity to host your own at your local tea/coffee shop and meet some of the people you tweet with on a regular basis. We have been beta-testing locations on the east side of Metropolitan Detroit, but there are plans to set up shop on southwest (Plymouth/Livonia) and northwest (Farmington/Novi) corners soon as well.

Each region will need to have its own host or ambassador, if you will. There is not a ton that hosts will need to do other than serve as the conduit for conversation. Regional ambassadors should look forward to collaborating on coming up with the weekly discussion topics as well as sharing “what works and what does not” in their area in considering the format for #tweetea, but that is not a requirement. The Royal Oak #tweetea at Goldfish Tea is the central hub, where the weekly discussion topics and memes-of-the-day will be disseminated. Thus, taking out the grunt work of keeping your local version fresh and engaging. If you are interested in being a regional ambassador for #tweetea in your neck of the woods, then please contact Hubert Sawyers III via e-mail (hsawyers [at] gmail.com) or Twitter (twitter.com/HubertGAM).
