About iDetroit
Created by active members of Detroit’s new media and tech space, iDetroit is the driving force behind Metro Detroit’s shift from industrial to interactive.
iDetroit’s mission is to be the most active force behind moving Metro Detroit’s digital community forward.
We plan to accomplish this goal by:
- Providing education and insights into building and supporting the new digital workforce
- Organizing events that enable and encourage networking and the sharing of ideas and resources
- Supporting and promoting both native iDetroit events as well as those put on by other parties to encourage a sense of community in the Greater Metro Detroit region.

The leadership team of iDetroit is comprised of entrepreneurs and professionals with backgrounds in social media, marketing communications, technology and business management.
Henry Balanon is the founder and lead developer at iPhone app company, Bickbot.com . He writes for GigaOm’s theappleblog.com covering Apple iPhone software development and also detroitstartups.net covering Metro Detroit startups. He is a foodie contributor for twohungrydudes.com as well as a Metro Detroit Yelp Elite.

Ken has more than 15 years of experience in the marketing and advertising industries, specializing in digital strategies and new media technologies. He’s currently working at the Digital Strategy & Social Media practice within Ernst & Young, where he collaborates with global brands across a variety of industries such as automotive, consumer products, media & entertainment, biotech, pharmaceutical, retail, technology and telecommunications to achieve their digital marketing objectives. He blogs at Web Business, is a member of 313Digital, and one of the principal organizers of Detroit Tweetups.

Brandon Chesnutt currently serves as an account executive with Identity Marketing & Public Relations, a B2B communications agency, and provides media relations, marketing and social media support and counsel to companies around the country. A current MBA student and active member of Detroit’s digital community, he is the co-organizer of Brand Camp University and one of the principal organizers of Detroit Tweetups and TechKaraoke Detroit. He also serves on the Marketing & Membership Committee of Fusion Detroit, an organization dedicated to attracting and retaining young talent.

David currently serves as Director, Social Web Communications for The Bivings Group and carries extensive experience in online community management, social media, product development, project management, as well as client implementations. He has also served as a consultant for web development and marketing strategies. Fully immersed in social media practices and methodologies, David enjoys “pushing the norm” when creating engaging user experiences.

Adrian has more than 15 years of high-tech marketing and brand development experience partnering with Fortune 500 companies on both the domestic and international fronts. He directed web-based design and messaging initiatives for Apple, Nissan and Infiniti for TBWA/Chiat in Los Angeles, and Dish Network for Publicis in Seattle. With BBDO, he co-directed the launch of Chrysler’s web-based campaign for their brand’s introduction into Eastern Europe. He’s currently engaged in helping companies of all sizes navigate what he has dubbed the “Digital Domain” and is the co-founder of the FutureMidwest (formerly Module) Conference series.

In nearly 10 years of working on the Internet and in telecommunications, Damian has partnered with memorable brands like General Motors, Proctor & Gamble and Coca-Cola. Technology moves at light speed these days, but Damian moves faster. How else could he have scored a hat trick at Joe Louis Arena?

Hubert has been in the social media space for as long as he can remember. As co-host and chief organizer for #tweetea and blogger for UrbaneBlog.com, he is committed to helping Metro Detroit realize its own gems in its people, resources and businesses – both offline and online. Hubert also consults budding business startups and artists on online media strategy.
